Colmar Typefriends Trip
When I told my Typefriends about my new foundry and its connection to my family history in Colmar, the idea of a spontaneous trip to Alsace quickly came up. So I set off with Marc Lohner and Silvio Meier from Serpentype to spend a few nice days in Colmar.
Next to the beautiful old town and tasting some tarte flambées and regional wines, we also visited the Bartholdi Museum (designer of the Statue of Liberty) and the Hansi Museum, where some of his works for Fincker Frères are exhibited. And as is the case with type designers, we were inspired by the many typographic impressions of the city and also enjoyed discussing letters, which caused a few puzzled looks from other tourists.
Altogether, it was a very relaxed and inspiring trip, which will certainly be repeated in any form. Thank you Marc and Silvio for the good times!
